The superintendent reports another slow start this year but the greens have finally grown in after double aeration (deep and shallow). You can still see the pattern of the aeration holes, but they are not affecting putts. The greens are rolling relatively slow (around 10), but Kirk will get them to 11+ soon enough. The fairways still show some stripes from verticutting, but are playing true. I'm a biased member so I'll relay a comment from a recent AJGA (junior tournament) player's dad. "My girl has played tournaments in eight states and this is the best course she's ever played by far". If you give the desk your email address at check in, you automatically get frequent player credit on your next round. There are also many different special packages for more frequent players. New carts and new GPS units this year.

We held a golf outing there with 28 players, were well accommodated. Course was in very good shape and pace of play was good. It is a very difficult course for high handicap players, those 18 or higher, many forced carries and narrow fairways. Our best players loved the course, the high handicap players like myself, found it too difficult.

Challenging for even the best golfers. Maybe too much for 20 handicappers.

This course is in great shape (way to go Kirk and crew)! A US Open local qualifier was held here 5/18. Low score was 65. Greens are firm. Green speeds have been generally faster than other area courses (about 12, but were about 11 yesterday due to overnight rain). The rough protecting #9 green is getting mowed down a couple times per season now, making going for the green in 2 less risky. The practice green was redone this year lowering the lip on the bunker and replacing the grass. Look for special rates for online tee times. The frequent player program is free and gives you a 10% discount after your first round (20% for seniors on weekdays).

Played on a Thursday when it was not crowded. Some fairways were getting a little dry and were being watered. A very challenging layout that demands concentration and precise control to score well. Nice nix of water, rough and many traps You are seldom hitting off a level surface and near misses get punished. Rough is thick. Greens are sloped and require study. It was a challenge and pleasure to play. Staff was extremely polite and helpful and offered a discount on our next play. The club house is an old home and contains a grill with a full service menu.

The course is in great shape, especially the greens. Pace of play on weekends is running about 4.5 hrs (a little faster than the other local courses). US open qualifier was 5/9.

This course, along with Musket Ridge, is one of the best courses in the area, regardless of price (you get what you pay for, right?). I am a single digit handicap and this course is challenging and fun from the right set of tees. I must echo what has been stated here previously...if you play too far back because you THINK you drive the ball like Phil Mickelson, then prepare yourself for disappointment because this course will hand you your backside...on the other hand, if you play from the appropriate tees, you will have an enjoyable round AND be challenged by the layout and the greens (they usually have them rolled to about 10-12 on the stimpmeter). All in all, this is one of the best courses around this area...PERIOD!! Why else would they have been chosen as a U.S. Open qualifier course for so many years...think about it. So do yourself a favor and give it a try, you will not be disappointed. Because this is a more challenging course, it seems to keep the riff raff away which lends itself to pretty good pace of play (I played Easter Sunday this year and completed my round in ~4 hours...not too bad).

This is my home course. Great frequent player card program gives free round after 7 played (and double credits some times). Buying a gift card for yourself in the offseason gives you an additional 20% discount. This, combined with the difficulty and the relatively faster pace of play (than other local courses) makes it the best value in the area. Very difficult first 3 holes, especially if it is windy. If in doubt, move up a set of tees! Bunker renovation was completed for the US Open qualifier: all bunkers have fresh sand. The course is walkable, but hilly enough to make it a hike. The cart barn looks ratty. The club house is an old house that looks "eh" from the outside. It took a while for this course to grow on me. Best public in the area (within 30 miles). Open holes on a rolling, hilly layout. Links-like in many ways. A very good test for a good golfer, with some excellent holes. Te course has been in excellent condition all of the times that I've played it. Be sure to play the correct set of tees. Play it too far back for your handicap & it will kill you. Play the right set of tees and it's a very enjoyable. Don't let the opening 3 holes get you - they are among the toughest.

Our group of travelling seniors played here 7-7-09, enticed by the $45 senior rate, which is a pretty good deal for a course of this quality.

Tough golf course: the published slope and rating seemed too low to us. Slope from the White tees is 125, and we though 130 would be more appropriate.

The course is a very imaginatively designed course with lots of natural areas, and excellent use of terrain and elevation changes. Exceptionally beautiful course from almost every tee box, except #18, which has heavy weeds and brush growing wildly directly in front of the White tee box. No two holes look, or play, quite alike, and every one of our group felt that they could score 5 or more strokes better on a replay, just having learned a little about the layout.

This is a course thst you will want to come back to. Conditions were generally good, with the notable exception of the bunkers which were very thin, hard, and filled with small rocks. Not at all up to the standards otherwise.

A word or two about the greens: they are very large, and very fast, and most are devilishly sloped. Good luck getting through a round without a three putt! A word of advice: do not put your approach shot above the hole on any green.

Clubhouse and pro shop are nice, but food items are a little pricey. Staff is uniformly professional and helpful. We had a problem with the GPS in our cart, and the cart guys moved quickly to resolve the issue. We highly recommend!
